GATCSA endorse support to the Jakaranda Children's home charity located in Pretoria.
Recently we were approached with a request to consider support to this charity. After a visit by the EB to the facility we have decided to adhear to the request and to find ways to provide support.
Jacaranda Children's home has been caring for children since 1987. Situated in East Lynne, Pretoria. The home cares for 250 children aged 3-18 years. The children are mainly placed by the children's court due to neglect, abandonment, physical or sexual abuse. The houses are open to children from all race groups in South Africa and are housed in 22 freestanding houses on one premises, each with their own garden. They are looked after by "parents" who are appointed as permanent and full-time (24 hours a day) for each house.
Several of our members has taken up the challenge to provide some funds and assist with finding sponsors. Should you whish to support this initiative please let us know.
The main goal in caring for these children is to fulfil in their basic needs such as security, stability, health care, food, clothing and education. Jacaranda Children's home caters for a number of different activities, all with therapeutic undertone.
The Children's home is responsible for the protection, care and development of all the children in our care. House 4 cares for 13 boys between 6 and 15 years.
The Guild's Main Goal:
We would like to secure an income on a monthly basis as a sponsorship towards this house. They need money to survive (buying the essentials to be able to live, things we consider to be a given). The money would go in support of the daily running of the house without any extra burden to the house father and his wife (at this stage he is supporting the house with her salary). Please contact the Guild's office on 011 928 6542 if you are willing to assist with this goal.
The Guild's Secondary Goal:
Any sponsorship, money or other wise, that can help make this house liveable and safe for the children.
Should you be able to assist us in any way you can be assured that your contribution will make a difference in the lives of the children. It will be greatly appreciated.
